The resort that made the glass igloo famous. Small standard igloos are cosy but tight; kelo-glass igloos add a log cabin with sauna. Far north, so aurora odds are strong — but you are 30 km from the nearest shop.

Built on a fell slope above Levi, so every igloo looks out over the valley instead of the neighbour's roof. Ski lifts, restaurants and a real village are 10 minutes away, which makes it the easiest premium igloo for a first Lapland trip.

The most activity-dense option near Rovaniemi: snow hotel, ice bar, smoke sauna and husky/snowmobile tours from the door. Set by a lake away from town lights, so the sky is darker than at Santa Claus Village.

Aurora bubbles by Lake Inari, an hour from Ivalo airport near the Russian border. The most remote option here — almost no light pollution, but you commit to the hotel's own restaurant and tours.

In the December–March high season, expect roughly 350–500 € per night for the cheaper aurora cabins near Rovaniemi and 500–1100 € for premium kelo-glass suites in Levi and Saariselkä. Shoulder months (September–November, April) are typically 30–40 % cheaper. Always check the live rate — igloo pricing moves a lot with demand.
The resorts furthest north and furthest from town lights: Kakslauttanen, Aurora Village Ivalo, Northern Lights Village Saariselkä and Wilderness Hotel Nellim. All sit deep inside the aurora oval in Inari. Near Rovaniemi, Arctic SnowHotel and Apukka are darker than anything at Santa Claus Village.
For one or two nights, yes — waking up under an open sky is the reason most people come. For a full week the cost adds up fast and the small igloos have limited storage and shared-style bathrooms at the cheapest resorts. A common approach is one or two igloo nights plus a normal hotel or cabin for the rest of the trip.
Most igloo resorts open glass accommodation from late August to April, matching the aurora season. Levin Iglut and Glass Resort operate year-round, which also makes them options for a midnight sun summer stay.
Christmas and New Year weeks sell out 6–12 months ahead, and February–March weekends usually go 3–6 months ahead. If your dates are fixed, book as early as you can and compare cancellation terms — most igloo rates are refundable up to a few weeks before arrival.
